WK05 Tutorial Reflection: Architectural Possibilities

The image above depicts the architectural possibility we developed during the design charette. We explored the concept of a multi use tower with a residential focus  on the upper levels and a retail and public focus on the ground and lower levels. As a response to increased gentrification we wanted to integrate affordable housing into the tower to encourage cultural diversity.

We also explored an underground component that might house low cost residential units or a hydroponic farming complex that would contribute to local produce outlets. After discussion with the tutor we decided that any underground component would be limited to several stories as the arguement to build underground was not strong enough to justify the outcome.
